Mon 1st July: Make that 60

Add Rum to make that 60
The June adoption figure of fifty nine dogs and puppies was posted today, but then it turned out that Rum from Tai Po had been missed so the actual number is sixty.  That's pretty amazing for any month, but particularly for a time when we hear "after the summer" so many times from people who are asking about adopting so maybe July won't be so bad after all.
Ivan

In fact the new month began well with three dogs being chosen from our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre; Ivan, poodle Jonny and the last of The Adorables, puppy Wendy.
Wendy was the last of The Adorable litter to be chosen

Ivan and Wendy were part of the previous group that arrived from the mystery source, and while yesterday's new recruits from the same place were settling in there has been no sign of the runaway terrier girl, which is very worrying.  The fact that these dogs come to us with no microchip means there's no way of a finder being able to trace any owner, and the only way we can hope to get the dog back is by asking everyone to share the post on their own Facebook pages.  Social media really helps in these situations and many lost dogs have been reunited with their familes this way.
Please keep sharing so we can get this little dog back

There was more bad news too, as we got the message from Acorn that  little pom Claudia had died.  We really don't know what was wrong and never will, but she had stopped eating and a last-ditch attempt of inserting a feeding tube hadn't helped as hoped.  This is sadly all part of dog rescue work, that losing some is inevitable no matter how hard anyone tries.
Claudia was only with us for a matter of days
