Fri 12th July: Size matters

The new puppies are happy and healthy
The five new puppies from AFCD Sheung Shui arrived, along with a senior poodle girl, and we were luckily able to get all puppies into foster homes within a short time of their return from Acorn where they had been vaccinated and checked over.  They are gorgeous and happy little souls but they will grow very quickly and become quite large adults I suspect.  That's the trouble with puppies - they grow at an alarming pace unless they're smaller sized, and Noddy is a perfect example.
Lovely colouring on this new puppy

When he and his brother, Big Ears, first arrived, Noddy was tiny in comparison and while Big Ears looked very much like the German shepherds we were told they were, Noddy really didn't.  So it's been quite a surprise to see him change from a little fluffy thing into a large and definitely German shepherd four month-old.  He wasn't a healthy baby but thankfully he had a great foster home to stay in while he got better, and when he outgrew that home he was offered a temporory place with my Lamma neighbours, where he is still currently staying.  He was supposed to be moving to his forever home today, a big house with a garden in the New Territories, and I was happy that he had found what I felt was an ideal situation for him.  However that fell through at the last minute due to the potential adopter's overseas work commitments, so Noddy is once again looking for a home.  The thing is, having spent time with him now I have a personal connection and I want him to have what he has become used to, that is a big home with a garden.  Noddy is also a typical puppy who likes to playbite, and being large and growing daily he's probably better off in a home with another dog and not young children.
What a difference 2 months made to Noddy

There was happy news for another large dog today as Tiny the Great Dane was picked up to go to his potential forever home.  Everything so far is going well and as expected Tiny doesn't bother the other small dogs and cats, so fingers crossed this will be forever.

We do have some really tiny puppies for those potential adopters who prefer a smaller-sized dog.  The "Z Litter" weren't very well when I first took them from AFCD but they are recovering well and will soon be ready to be adopted.   You can meet Zara, Zeb, Zack, Zorro and Zena any day at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, along with many other smaller dogs and puppies of every size.
Bye Tiny, hope everything works out for you
