Weds 9th Aug: Schnauzer exchange

Extra dogs are having to squeeze in with others
There is a lot going on now as we're looking at the end of the summer and the start of the busy season, while at the same time the Tai Po renovations are obviously creating additional problems as dogs in the enclosures being worked on have had to be squeezed in with others.  We are still open for dog walkers and adoptions of course, and in fact we need both more than ever right now.  We also need additional volunteers to help with the moving of heavy items such as rubber tiles so the new concrete flooring can be laid, so please, anyone with spare time and muscles can you head up to Tai Po to lend a hand.

Jamie is now recruiting event volunteers
We're also recruiting volunteers for this year's "Diamond Dogs" Gala event, that is anyone over eighteen who can help out on the actual night (Saturday 9th September).   Of course if you'd rather come as a guest than a volunteer tickets are available now, and you can contact Jamie at jamie@hongkongdogrescue.com for either.
Buzzie the schnauzer is now Kobe

Now on to the dog updates, and it turned out to be a schnauzer day with Buzzie's adoption confirmed along with his new name Kobe and new brother Kenzo, and in-and-out surrendered white schnauzer Lulu enjoying her first night in a new home.
These 2 schnauzers were left at a groomers

Lulu the 13 year-old schnauzer

At the same time I was asked if we could accept two schnauzers that had been taken for grooming and never picked up, and as they have no microchips it's actually much easier for us to handle.  Many dogs have complicated histories having been passed from home to home, and often the registered owners haven't even seen the dog for years.   This is one of the many challenges we face when trying to get legal ownership of dogs that come to us, so although it's a legal requirement to have a dog microchipped and licensed at five months of age, it's sometimes helpful when they have neither.

Baby poodle in and out
We took in another puppy today that had obviously been bought from an illegal breeder as it too had no microchip.  This was a poodle baby that had  lasted a very short time in its home because it had diarrhoea.  Yes, true, the person who had bought this puppy didn't like the fact that she needed to clean up after it so gave it away, and of course we have a waiting list for such little ones so he has already gone to a new home.

Another poodle also started her new life as ex-breeder dog Patsy was adopted.
Patsy can have a real life now

As always thank you to everyone who chooses to save a dog's life rather than buying.  Every dog deserves a home, and adoption is the right thing to do.

Everything is taking a long time to do at the moment as I'm working with a very slow computer which I feel is in the final stages of breaking down completely.  What should take minutes is taking hours, so I have now accepted that I need a new desktop and the search begins. Any recommendations please let me know.
