Tues 15th Aug: Can you help mend a broken heart?

Pops is now a scared dog
I wrote before about the sad story of the three dogs who were adopted by an apparently well-to-do woman who ended up neglecting them, and who I managed to get back.  All three are traumatised and remain so, with senior Pops having changed character completely and the two young ones showing all the signs of puppyhood starvation and ill treatment.  They are fearful and withdrawn, and I can't say how much this hurts me - us all - to see.
What awful abuse have these poor dogs suffered?

What made it even worse was getting a Facebook message in the evening from someone telling me that they'd just met a lovely ex-HKDR dog, one I immediately recognised from the attached photo as being Derek, brother of Carter, one of the two returned puppies.  Carter was just as happy and outgoing as Derek when he was taken away by that woman, but he came back broken.  It breaks my heart to know we let such an evil person fool us with her lies, and entrusted her with three lives that have now been destroyed.

We really need to get these dogs into foster homes where they can heal, and hopefully it won't be too late to undo the damage.  Although Susie and Carter cling to each other for safety and security, I feel it would be better to separate them as long as each can go to a home where there is another older, kind and confident dog who can teach new behaviour.  I know it's a big ask for anyone, but like the "naughty" poodles who are now undergoing re-training in great foster homes, I believe there are others who will be willing to help Susie and Carter, and Pops of course.  If you feel you would like to take any of the three for fostering please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, and of course we will provide full training support as needed.

Last weekend's Aromatic for Dogs Workshop went very well, and thanks to WOW Petshop for sponsoring the space and Shireen Calucin for sharing her extensive knowledge of essential oils and their many uses .
Ex-HKDR Pasha really enjoyed choosing the oils

This Saturday is the "Dogs and Babies" workshop for all expectant parents who would like to know how best to introduce the new addition to the home and existing family members.
