Sun 13th Aug: All quiet on the Whiskers N Paws front

Enzo has grown into the most beautiful and amazing boy
Whiskers N paws took a back seat today, despite the four new baby pups making their debut, and it was Tai Po and Ap Lei Chau that saw dogs leaving.  At least puppy Cameron was taken for a trial and two babies for fostering, but there are no adoption photos to show.  Hopefully next weekend will be the big one for Enzo as his adoption is 90% in the bag.  He has grown into the most amazing boy, not only very beautiful but also with the best and kindest personality, and volunteer photographer Eric Tang captured him so well.   Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 123 new photos to the album Puppy Adoption Day 13 August 2017 — at Whiskers N Paws

Sarah is a wonderful dog
At Tai Po it was beautiful Sarah that escaped the heat and the renovations, while at Ap Lei Chau the new bichon frise Toto was adopted and poodle Jolly taken for a trial.  Jolly is another typical poodle, which means demanding and too intelligent for his own good sometimes, but with these types of dogs it's just a question of appreciating their character and needs. Properly treated and trained, poodles can be fantastic companions, but without that they can easily end up as problem dogs.

Poodle Maya is exactly the same, and she was one of the "Red Dogs" taken on Saturday, and luckily for her by someone with the knowledge, experience and patience to work though any behaviour issues.  The comment made in the first day's feedback is that Maya has a lot of energy and enjoyed a very long walk, a fact that we really have trouble explaining to poodle adopters.  This breed are not the toys or babies they are usually treated as, and really more than anything else they need a physical and mental challenge.   Maya probably doesn't know yet  how lucky she is to have been taken for training and rehabilitation, but I'm sure every day will see a change as she settles.
