Weds 16th Aug: A challenge for the Tai Po team

This has been an unusual week for me in that I have been busy with other things that have kept me away from my usual haunts, and I won't be able to make it to AFCD or Acorn until Friday. I'm already wondering what (who) I'll find there.

It was very difficult and challenging for the Tai Po team today as there was only one cleaner (paid staff) on duty due to holidays and sickness, and only one dog walking volunteer.  With so many dogs and such a huge site, not to mention the extra pressure due to ongoing renovations, it's a massive daily undertaking to keep the place clean and running, dogs fed, medicated if necessary, and exercised.  We really need a lot more weekday volunteers to help with walking the dogs if nothing else, so if you are over eighteen and can spare the time please go to our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com to sign up.

Not long now
Even if dog walking isn't possible, we are always in need of volunteers for events like the upcoming "Diamond Dogs" Gala Dinner, and Peak to Fong in November (Sunday 19th to be exact), and you can contact Jamie at jamie@hongkongdogrescue.com for "Diamond Dogs" and Eva (eva@hongkongdogrescue.com) for Peak to Fong if you are available to help.

We are open every single day from 10am to 6pm
Of course the point of the Tai Po Homing Centre is to house and take care of dogs that are waiting for adoption, and there are many of them.  Please take a look at our website to browse through the hundreds of hopefuls, and complete the Adoption Questionnaire (under Adopt) if you are interested in any particular dogs or would like recommendations.

However please understand that we are a rescue organisation, not a pet shop or breeder, so requests for specific breed puppies are difficult, and to be honest, disappointing.  With so many super-sweet, happy and healthy mixed breeds of all ages available, why not meet them and see?  There are plenty of older puppies at Tai Po, and of course puppies of every age every Sunday afternoon at Whiskers N Paws.   We also have adult purebreeds, like ex-breeder labrador Cara who has gone from being overweight and unfit to being as beautiful as she is loving and affectionate.  How come she is still waiting for a family to take her home?
Puppy fosters are also needed
