Weds 8th June: Arrival of the "I" crowd

Pretty much everything was postponed today thanks to the torrential rain and on-off thunder, except for the arrival of several new dogs and puppies at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre.   I wasn't there and it was also Iris's day off today, so any estimates of age had to be done from looking at photos, and we'll have to wait to see if the vet checking them agrees.
Inky is a girl, estimated 3 years old

There are three small adults and seven puppies, with quite a variety of looks, shape and size. Isla in particular looks like a golden retriever from the top, but her legs are short.  She was also quite scared on arrival so hopefully she'll settle down soon.  Ike and Impi are assumed brothers and are much larger than the others, although from their faces and ears it's quite possible there are a few more siblings.

Ilona is also estimated to be 3 years old

Isaac is a bit older at 8 years

As always, please complete the adoption questionnaire if you are interested in any of our dogs and puppies, and right now there's a lot of puppies to choose from!  https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/.

Donny

We're also still waiting for the right home for young shiba inu Donny, so I'm going to give a little more information about him. Like all of the shibas that come to us having previously been in inappropriate homes, Donny didn't have any real social skills. These are learned when puppies are still young, and are allowed to interact with other puppies and people. In general terms Donny is pretty easygoing, but walking him on a leash is a challenge because he gets frustrated, and has been known to bite (the walker's) legs. Nothing is impossible to change or train with consistent practise and reward for getting it right, but Donny is not a dog for inexperienced owners or anyone living in a small home. When not walking on a leash Donny is fine, and gets on well with the other dogs he lives with. As a reminder, all adopters of HKDR dogs have free access to our very experienced and highly qualified trainer, Cactus, and she will be happy to help with any of Donny's behaviour issues. Many of our adopters have benefited from Cactus's years of practical knowledge as well as her ongoing studies in various fields of dog behaviour.
