Tues 17th May: Introducing Bounce and Bobsy

There was happy news today about the husky mother whose puppies were presumably taken from her, as she was well enough to go to a foster home today.  Like all of the "rooftop" dogs, Trinity is  still quite young, so hopefully the trauma of what happened will soon be forgotten.

Bobsy and Bounce

We took in a further two from the same case, not huskies but a poodle cross (yes, a "doodle") and a terrier type.  Again both are young and very friendly, and I called the terrier girl Bounce because of her playfulness, and the poodly boy is now Bobsy.   Please complete the questionnaire if you're interested in adopting any of our HKDR dogs, and we will as always choose the homes that we feel can offer the best in terms of lifestyle and environment.  https://hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.

Gus the poodle went home today, and there are now five still available, four boys and one female. Again, and as always with such popular dogs, we'll choose the best homes out of the many offered.

We moved into the Kennedy Town Homing Centre with very few dogs, but it didn't take long for the spaces to be filled.  Some puppies arrived, and small adults were returned from their foster homes before this recent group of ex-breeder poodles and terriers turned up.  So far everyone gets along very well, and Iris designed the pens so they could be opened up for playtimes, and then closed during feeding, or as needed.  As much as possible we try to provide a fun and cage-free environment for the dogs and puppies,  so even if they're not in real homes they can at least enjoy the company of other dogs, and of course the staff and volunteers.  It's always been important to us that our dogs aren't kept isolated in single kennels, but are given the freedom to choose how much, and if, they want to mingle and play with others.

Just-surrendered Scribble and the poodles

We're expecting four new young puppies on Wednesday, and for the first time in months we don't need to ask for urgent foster homes!

The weather is so amazing at the moment, but we all know that the rain's going to be coming back to spoil everyone's fun.  Never mind though, you can buy a Buddy Bites umbrella while supporting HKDR at the same time by clicking on this link: https://buddybites.dog/umbrella/

In fact you support HKDR every time you buy Buddy Bites dog food, with a variety of flavours now available, as well as treats.  Check out the website https://buddybites.dog/ for details of how to buy, and how your purchase helps feed our own HKDR dogs.  Other than the dogs that need to be on special diets, all of our Tai Po Homing Centre dogs are now well fed thanks to the Buddy Bites food donations.

Another delivery of Buddy Bites arrives at Tai Po
