Fri 27th May: Gearing up for a busy weekend

Marina should be in Canada by now

Marina left Hong Hong to start her new life in Canada today, and while the flight itself might seem to be scary for the dogs, almost all seem to arrive in pretty good condition.  Happily all of our HKDR dogs have made it to their overseas destinations without any problem, and it's the arranging of the flights and necessary blood tests etc that causes more stress and hair-pulling than anything else.  It's true that getting a dog used to sleeping in a travel crate in preparation for the flight is really helpful, and there's usually time to do that before the actual travel date.

Camille needs a forever family

Foster dog Camille went back for her final check-up at ALCVC after she arrived with a horribly injured paw (in fact a lost toe).  We were very happy to find a wonderful foster home for Camille while she healed, which included having daily changes of dressing, but now she's completely better and ready for her forever home.  She's proved to be a very sweet and loving young dog, and as her foster family will be leaving Hong Kong soon, we would really love to see Camille adopted before then.  Please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you're looking for a new family member.
Camille's paw is fully healed now

The new "O" puppies

While the new puppies went off to their foster homes, we started to take back those youngsters who are now old enough to be adopted.  There are pros and cons about such puppies being returned, the biggest positive being that they can be seen on any day by potential adopters.  They also get used to being handled by many different people, so for the shy dogs this is definitely helpful.  Today it was four of the "D" litter that came back, and they are Dawn and Darwin, Duke and Daphne.   Kyle and Kenny will be coming to Kennedy Town on Saturday.  Perhaps it's just as well that I expect that the remaining poodles will have left the Homing Centre by then, because we're starting to fill up.

We probably won't be sending the "D" puppies to Whiskers N Paws on Sunday, but there are plenty of others who will be there from 2pm to 4pm.   If you want to meet any of the foster puppies in their temporary homes rather than at Whiskers N Paws, please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com to arrange.

For all adoption enquiries please start by completing the questionnaire at https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/
