Tues 18th May: A busy day but not much to show for it

Ryan is 12 years old and needs a home urgently

Sometimes the day is very busy without much to write about  at the end of it all, and while I was busy on Lamma having a big rearrangement of "furniture" (meaning dog beds and houses), Ming started the morning by picking up two dogs from AFCD Sheung Shui and dropping them off at Tai Po Homing Centre. One of the dogs (Cyrus) is young while the other, Ryan, is already twelve years old and with a thick coat, so we would really love to move the poor old boy into a home and air conditioning as soon as possible.
Cyrus is a lovely boy

There was also an older puppy surrendered to our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre after we'd received a surrender application by email, and although everything was all correct in terms of the licensed owner being the person who brought the puppy to us there was a subsequent family dispute which resulted in other family members turning up to claim the puppy back.  However by then we had an adopter and the puppy was no longer there, which might indicate to you that this wasn't a mongrel pup.  What was really shocking was that we were told the puppy had been bought on TaoBao, and if ever there was a situation to highlight the callousness of the pet trade it has to be this.  The buyer, the one who surrendered the puppy, was completely incapable of looking after a dog, and a large one at that, but these online breeders don't care about details like that, they only see the money that arrives in their bank account.
