Fri 7th May: A fun day out for Team Red

The 5 new puppies

The new puppies arrived from AFCD Sheung Shui and were picked up by their foster parents from ALCVC (Ap Lei Chau Vet Clinic) who had kindly agreed to keep the newbies there rather than having them stay at the Homing Centre.   Thanks also to Dr Denise and Clinic Manager Rocky for accepting all of the other puppies that are potentially sick or at risk of being infected, and keeping them in the isolation ward until we have an idea of what's happening.  As of Friday evening all puppies were stable at least, so we hope that there will be no deterioration overnight. Unfortunately this also means that for the time being all of these pups aren't available for adoption, but as they're still young and we have many others waiting for homes, it's not as disastrous as it could have been.

These pups aren't all sick but temporarily quarantined

Sunday is Whiskers N Paws day again, so you can meet the available puppies there, or any of those in foster homes.  Please remember to complete the adoption questionnaire in advance at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

The sometimes adorable and always very cute Titus

It was a special day today for the little dogs we call "Team Red" as they all headed out to Cheung Chau to meet up with ex-teamsters Bell and Joseph.  Please take a look at the happy faces of everyone as they enjoyed their adventure, and remember they all have the potential to be as amazing and carefree as little Bell and his new "brother" Joseph if just given the chance: https://www.facebook.com/HKDR.DOGGIES

The surrender applications keep coming in, and we will try to accept those that are suitable for re-homing and can live in harmony with the other Homing Centre dogs, but not all can.  I received a request to find a new home for bull terrier Summer but unfortunately she has a serious dog-aggression issue, not helped by the fact that she's been in kennels for the past two years.

As this isn't a case of a cruel owner rather a sad situation of the owner becoming incapacitated and others taking over, I agreed to try to help by sharing Summer's information.  Maybe someone who knows and loves this intensely loyal and protective breed will be able to offer a home:

Summer the bull terrier was born in 2014. She's
"extremely affectionate with humans but she needs to be the only dog at home to avoid conflict. She will also need an experienced owner that knows how to avoid confrontation with other dogs."
