Thurs 17th Dec: Please read our Adoption Booklet!

We have two new dogs arriving from AFCD on Friday, one an Alaskan Malumute and the other a mixed breed, clearly part sharpei and looking rather neglected judging from the photos.  I'll share the photos once the dogs have arrived, but we already have a surrendered Malamute at Tai Po, a real giant of a dog.  Although there's already been interest in adopting Toffee, we have to be sure that his new family really have the space for such a huge dog, who's also very strong.

Lucy was today's lucky puppy at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and while it's always a happy event when puppies are chosen to start their new lives there's almost always the follow up messages asking about toilet training, play biting and so on.  Our trainer Cactus is kept busy replying to these same questions, while answers are all in the booklet we give away to adopters to try to help. Please do take the time to read it as the information and illustrations are easy to follow.

We're always saying it but in the excitement of choosing a puppy it falls on deaf ears too often:  ALL PUPPIES BITE.  If you have children it's even more important to understand this and to take steps to ensure neither dog or human baby gets hurt or blamed. Smacking, shouting or any kind of punishment is totally unfair as well as being pointless, as puppies (and dogs) simply don't understand what they're doing to upset you.

I just saw this online video which I thought might be helpful to all dog owners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbuT_TY51_E

We've been expecting some new smaller dogs, and maybe puppies too, at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, but every day there's a delay and we really can't be sure that they will turn up until they're actually in the van and on the way.  Apologies to everyone who's waiting but this is out of our hands.  Those shown here are the ones that arrived during the week and are ready to go.

We sent out a Christmas Newsletter the other day and a few kind recipients have pointed out a big mistake (thank you).  I'm usually quite careful about proofreading but really missed this big error.  Of course I'm sure everyone realised it was a typo, but it's still wrong! Here's the corrected version: "Please continue to give us your support in which ever way you can, including donations of funds or in kind, and we promise to continue to strive to save as many lives as possible in 2021.
