Fri 11th Dec: Meet some of the small residents-in-waiting

We don't currently have too many small-sized dogs at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, because when they come in they don't have to wait long before being adopted unless they have health or behaviour issues.  At any given time we might receive one or many new small dogs, so keep reading my blogs for the latest news.  You can also see photos on Eagle's Facebook page, including our many small "Red" dogs:https://www.facebook.com/HKDR.DOGGIES

Some dogs are overlooked due to their age or their looks, and I suppose both could apply to Rubble except that he loves his walks and has loads of energy, and some find the underbite very cute rather than ugly.  Rubble went for a trial adoption earlier in the week but the resident dog (and cats) were very unhappy about it, so although it didn't work out his almost-adopter wrote this about him:

Rubble was an absolute dream - he walked in, friendly, passive, inquisitive, well behaved, toilet trained, and with the energy of a much younger dog! At 9, he has bounds of life and love to give and LOVES walks. He potters round, keen to be with humans who he loves and really enjoys chilling on a comfy sofa or snuggling up in a bed 💜
He would perhaps prefer a home without cats, but this doesn’t mean with time, patience, positive training and guidance, he wouldn’t be a fit for a home with cats. He was just hyper excited by them and wanted to say hello, which my 2 were less than pleased with 🤦🏼‍♀️
On walks, he is well behaved on a leash and keeps pace without pulling. He can be a little excited by other dogs, but again with positive training and patience (as everything is new and exciting in his world after the tragic loss of his original owner), all the stimulating things will become calm and happy positives with the right loving home.
Hoping someone out there can see the fabulousness in him that I do and gives him a chance 🙏🏼💜

Mops is a sweet girl but she arrived with mammary lumps which meant surgery was inevitable and she had the first mammary strip today, as well as having eight teeth extracted.  Just like poodle Tara before her who had to undergo the same drastic surgery, dogs are amazingly resilient and Mops will be fine in just a few weeks.  She'll also look a million times better than the shaven girl with the mop head that arrived, and I look forward to seeing the before-and-after photos that I know will be incredible.

Titus (left in the photo) the poodle is a relative youngster at six years, and he's full of enthusiasm for life and plays non-stop with the puppies at the Homing Centre.  Unfortunately, while he's sweet and affectionate most of the time he gets grumpy when tired, so we can't let him go to a home with children.

Paddy isn't old at nine years and he's a very sweet boy, but he was surrendered to us with a heart problem which will require lifelong medication.  He's the one on the right in the photo.

We also have a young version of Rubble in terms of looks (the underbite) but Tingle has the same issue as Titus in that while normally good-natured, he can get annoyed when he's tired and wants to be left alone.  For a home with adults only he'd be a great little dog.

Our Tai Po Homing Centre is packd with so many wonderful dogs I don't know where to start in terms of lisitng them all, but you can see all details at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/dogs/
