Tues 3rd Nov: Ned has his Bailey Chair

It's wonderful to know that so many people follow the stories of our dogs and really care about them, supporting as and when necessary with extra donations or special projects like a Bailey Chair for puppy Ned, and thanks to the kind sponsors who have donated for Ned he has now his own Bailey Chair! The chair was made for Ned at the Make Centre, somewhere I didn't even know existed but it looks amazing because you can have anything made to order. Check it out https://www.facebook.com/makecentre/

🪑It’s a perfect tailor-made chair that fits Ned nicely, and is also easy for staff and volunteers to set up when Ned needs to sit upight while eating and for a while after his meals.
Ned is very pleased with his new chair as you can see! Thank you!

As a reminder of Ned's story, he came to us as a very young baby along with his littermates, already quite sick with pneumonia and unable to drink his milk without vomiting. An eventual CT scan showed he had the condition called megaoesophagus, which means the food doesn't go down to the stomach naturally so Ned has to sit upright during and after meals. The Bailey Chair was devised for dogs with this condition and is a simple way of feeding safely. Ned is now an extremely loving, happy and healthy puppy, although the megaoesophagus is a lifelong condition so the Bailey Chair will go with Ned when he's adopted. Who will the lucky family be to have this gorgeous boy in their lives?

Now we have another need for special donations, this time for one of our beautiful German shepherds, Victor. He went to Concordia Pet Care for check-up after a lump on his throat was noticed and the report came back as a suspected sarcoma which will need excising, but first a CT scan is required to fully assess the extent of the growth. As vet Dr Elaine said, this will "incur costs", meaning it's an expensive procedure. Can you help? Please visit our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com/donate/ for information about how to support Victor's costs.

It would also be lovely if Victor could be in a foster home during the period of his CT scan, surgery and recovery, and as a very gentle and easy dog, even if large in size, if you can help please let us know. Email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, and please be aware that you will be requested to get Victor to his appointments even if all food and everything else is provided. Ideally that will mean someone with a car, or within easy reach of Happy Valley.

The two new puppies arrived at Ap Lei Chau from AFCD Pokfulam, both girls and now called Kiki and Mandy. As is usually the case with rescued puppies there's some superficial skin infection, but this is easily treated.

For all adoption enquiries please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
