Mon 9th Dec: A constant flow of in and out

I have to keep reminding myself that it's already December and Christmas is coming soon, along with the new year shortly after that, and we have so many puppies with yet more arriving this week.  Knowing not everyone leaves Hong Kong for the holiday period, myself included of course, can I ask anyone who's going to be around to help out by fostering a baby or two?   You can find out more by emailing Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com and she'll tell you what it's all about.

Lovely Ned going home for ever
Good news came from Tai Po as Ned had his adoption confirmed after being taken home to see how he got on with the two resident dogs.  Everything has gone well so Ned is now permanently a family member.  Thank you to Ned's adopter, and to everyone who chooses to save a life by taking home a dog in need.  It means so much to all of us at HKDR but even more to the dogs themselves.  Every one of them has a sad story to tell (if they could talk) and they all deserve that second chance of love.

3 new dogs, all young,  lovely and very sweet
The three new small dogs were delivered to our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre as arranged, and we're also expecting a shiba inu (friendly) and maybe another young and small-sized dog that has a sad story which I'll share if and when he comes to us.   Arriving with the latest litter of puppies from AFCD there's also a four year-old Jack Russell terrier (female), so you can see there's always a flow of dogs in and out so please keep checking if you're on the lookout for any particular type.  We're frequently asked if we can let someone know if we ever get this or that, but honestly we don't have the resources to keep such a list of potential homes.  You'll see every new intake posted here on my blog first, so keep reading if you want to jump the queue.
Inca came to us from AFCD last week and looks totally different after grooming

Today's new dogs are all lovely, very sweet and friendly girls.  I took them to AFCD for licensing (and guessing their ages) and then on to Acorn for their health checks and vaccinations.  There's nothing seriously wrong so all can go to new homes, and they'll be perfect family dogs.

We can only keep taking in new dogs and puppies if we can afford to pay for their healthcare, food and everything else while they're waiting for homes, and the cost of each dog is often far more than we ask as an adoption fee.  This year has been a tough one as I'm sure you all appreciate, and that's why the $100 Challenge is so important.  It's very easy to do and we're only asking for $100 from each "player" so everyone can afford to join in and spread further to three friends.  Here's how it works: Join the $100 Challenge to show you care!
Since 2003, HKDR has rescued almost 10,000 dogs and puppies. Our work is only possible with the ongoing support from people who care. In this season of giving, we invite you all to join this small game - The $100 Challenge - to show that you care!
