Mon 16th Dec: In the spirit of Christmas giving

Molly will be leaving next week
Another lovely puppy found her new home today, her adopter taking advantage of our "Adopt now, take home later" scheme, so Molly will actually leave next week.  It's admittedly a challenge in terms of space but we don't want to lose potential homes for the sake of a short-term problem.   Take another look at the beautiful - and many - lovely puppies we have waiting to be chosen  Puppy Adoption Day 15 December 2019 .

You can meet most of the puppies at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, along with the smaller adults including lovely sisters Midge and Renee.  They are estimated to be two years old so the perfect age in terms of being still young but having got over their puppy behaviour.

It's time to say thank you to everyone who has supported HKDR over this past year, which in all honesty hasn't been an easy one as you are probably aware.  We rely almost entirely on the generosity of donors for our ability to take good care of the dogs at our Homing Centres, whether its via our Life Saver Club monthly sponsorship programme (lifesaver@hongkongdogrescue.com), by attending our fundraising events, buying our merchandise or by direct donation.

We're currently running the "$100 Challenge" which is pretty much what the title says.  All you have to do is take a photo of your dog(s) with $100 note and upload it to Facebook or Instagram, tagging three friends and challenging them to do the same.  We also accept cats, birds and turtles for this particular game!

Many parents are keen to teach their children the importance of sharing and helping those less fortunate than themselves, and thanks to www.twopresents.com we've also been the beneficiary of shared birthdays and other celebrations.  You've seen the lovely photos of the Giant Cheque presentations at Whiskers N Paws, and we're always happy to know that the children have themselves chosen HKDR as their favourite charity.  So as an introduction for those who are wondering what Twopresents is:

Shayna was one of many children who chose to donate to HKDR
Twopresents, a Hong Kong based social enterprise, was founded by Mia, Mike, Karola and Shirin. We are all parents who are keen to teach our kids how to live greener and more responsible lives. In our quest to ensure our next generation learns the importance of giving back to the community, we set up Twopresents.
Since we began in 2013, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response from Hong Kong families who are passionate about sharing and making a difference. Choosing to celebrate with Twopresents means we can all play a small part in making the world a better place.
Twopresents allows us to:
  • Educate our families about sharing and the many social causes that need help
  • Reduce waste generated from packaging and pollution
  • Ensure the special present you do get is something you or your child actually wants
  • Save guests the hassle of running around town looking for gifts
Sharing your happiness feels good, no matter what the occasion. We hope that many of you will enjoy celebrating the Twopresents way!
