Thurs 16th May: Maybe coming, maybe not

3 year-old labrador girl
As you know I'm reluctant to mention potential surrenders due to the fact that so many never turn up in the end (and when I already have a nice new home arranged).  However for the sake of the dogs and to prevent them having to spend time at the Homing Centres, I will say that we have a three year-old female labrador that I'm pretty sure will be arriving on Sunday so if you are interested please let us know, and if not already done complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt).  The dog has no health or behavour issues, and I will share the story later or as needed.

The other maybe-surrender is a rough-coated Jack Russell puppy who, like the labrador, doesn't have any health or behaviour problems and is just not suited to the home. The owners of this puppy admit their mistake in importing a puppy from Australia that was really too much for them to handle and they love her very much, so I'm not going to criticise them for doing the right thing in trying to find a home that can provide the exercise that's needed.  We will know by Sunday if this puppy is confirmed as her owners are struggling to give her up, but just in case I would like to have a new home ready and waiting.   Again please complete the Adoption Questionnaire if you are interested and can genuinely offer a suitable and loving home for this lively breed.

The sharpei pups
Also this weekend we're expecting two sharpei puppies that we had thought were going to be coming sooner but again it fell through,  although this time it looks as though the pups really will be arriving.  We already have someone interested in the male, so it's the female that will be available after Saturday.

A selection of our younger puppies will be at Concordia Pet Care this Saturday, 2pm to 5pm, with all puppies back at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday afternoon.  Remember every day is adoption day at HKDR so you can drop by at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre any weekday to meet the puppies and take one home.

We had a large and very welcome donation of dog food at our Tai Po Homing Centre today, so everyone was kept busy trying to move the heavy bags inside the storage space available while also dealing with the adoption and visitor enquiries.  We're not complaining because both the food and potential adopters are more than welcome, but it's hard work for the team there.  Hopefully this coming weekend at least a few of the enquiries will become adoptions, so fingers crossed for our beautiful dogs and puppies.
