Tues 10th Oct: Finally it's goodbye to Stanley Barracks boy Rufus

This was the last photo taken of Rufus in his foster home
It was a big day for me today, or rather for Rufus and his foster family who have taken care of him so well for the past few months, as we had an appointment to meet his new family at the Ap Lei Chau dog park first thing this afternoon.  Rufus is very used to travelling on boats and in the van and he knows Whiskers N Paws very well, but Ap Lei Chau is unknown territory for a beach-and-country boy so he was a little bit nervous to begin with.  Still, given the circumstances and being fed a good supply of treats he did very well, and after half an hour of getting-to-know-you time I helped put him into a taxi for the drive to his new home and life.   There was no photo taken because I forgot, but I have been promised an update with photos very soon.

I had to rush off after waving goodbye to Rufus as I knew puppy Lena's sister was waiting to be picked up at AFCD, and I had to get her to Acorn for a check up and vaccination.  It's incredible how identical she is to Lena given that they aren't a breed, even down to them both having no tail.  This new puppy is now called Bina and she'll be staying at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre until Sunday and Whiskers N Paws, if she's not adopted before then that is.
This is Lena in her lovely home

Our other Ap Lei Chau puppy, Evie, will be moving out to her new home on Wednesday after having met her family on Sunday and melted their hearts.  She really is the sweetest of characters, and I'm so happy that she has a lovely home to look forward to.
Evie has a home too!

We are still in urgent need of a foster home for golden retriever Amber where she can stay during her six months of chemotherapy for lymphoma.  It occurred to me that potential fosters might be put off by thinking that Amber will be very sick during the time of her treatment, and need to mention that it's very different for dogs.  They don't suffer from the awful side effects that a lot of humans go through during chemotherapy and Amber should be like any normal dog other than needing to go to the vet once a week.  So please let Cindy know if you can help by emailing foster@hongkongdogrescue.com as a matter of urgency as Amber will start chemotherapy this week.

Peak to Fong is just a little over a month away and we have already started selling the T-shirt/tickets at the various outlets across Hong Kong and Kowloon, and online sales have also now begun: http://hongkongdogrescue.com/p2f2017ticket-information/buy-ticket-online/

Be sure to buy your ticket early!
