Thurs 5th Oct: Trying to keep up with everything

Graham is just a youngster
As all of the ex breeder dogs that came to us had either expired licenses or no licenses at all, I had arranged to meet the fosters of those lucky poodles who had gone to temporary homes at AFCD  to get their rabies vaccinations and new licenses issued.  I have to say thank you to everyone who gave up a holiday to come to Pokfulam, and one lucky poodle even had an on-the-spot ownership transfer as her adoption was confirmed.   I also met Graham the bulldog for the first time and he's a very sweet boy, probably only a year old but with terrible raw pads on his back feet.  I know he will quickly find a home if his foster parents don't decide to keep him, which is a strong possibility.

Amber needs to start chemo for lymphoma
There has been so much going on over the past week or so with all of the ex-breeder dogs arriving and as many as possible going to foster homes that I seem to have a huge backlog of emails and other things that are piling up.  One of these is finding a foster home for the golden retriever, Amber, so she can start chemotherapy, and as it means weekly visits to Acorn it would be best if the home was close to Sai Yung Pun or at least on Hong Kong Island.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help this lovely dog.
Carter is a small,  sweet and happy 1 year-old

I was also reminded that the two young dogs that came back to us from the very strange home (I can't think of any other way to describe it) are ready for adoption now.  I'm talking about Susie and Carter, and as they are very small for mixed breeds I hope they will be considered by potential adopters wanting small-medium size dogs.

Susie is really small
Carter has stayed at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre and has changed from a timid youngster to an incredibly loving and affectionate boy who loves his walks.  Both he and Susie had never been outside before coming back to us, and now both of them have learned what it means to live a normal kind of life.  Susie is even smaller than Carter and has been in a wonderful foster home, but she will have to come back very soon and we're desperately hoping that she will find a forever home before then.
Rufus in his foster home

Another doglet that should have been adopted but is still in foster is Rufus, and for those of you unfamiliar with the fuzzy-faced Stanley Barracks family here are a couple of Rufus's uncles from previous generations.  You can see the incredible likeness, and all of these adopted dogs have turned out to be really wonderful and unique family members.
