Obesity isn't a joke 

We had an interesting group of dogs arriving from AFCD in Sheung Shui today, all of whom seemed to have come from the same home by looking at them.  There are two miniature pinschers, one of which has been re-named a mini pig rather than a mini pin due to her extreme obesity.  This poor girl's ideal weight should be 3.5 kilos but she weighs a whopping 11 kilos!  That's really not funny even if we were joking about her being a little piggy, and she will need to go on a crash diet.  The other two are supposed to be chihuahua crosses, but the only clue to their breed heritage is their small size.  All four dogs are ten or eleven years old and are quite possibly related.   I suppose I'll have to call the fat girl Miss Piggy, as there's really no other name that springs to mind.

Another almost chihuahua-sized dog came from a breeder, and while she looks like a Sheltie she is very tiny, and at five years a lot younger then the other new arrivals.  Her name is now Pixie.

The two fluffy puppies that came at the same time are very cute, and they will be staying at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre until we can find them a home, foster or permanent.  Of course they will be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday even if it is raining as forecast, as we can be inside.

We are always in need of old newspapers at all of our Centres, Lamma included, for the dogs and puppies' toilet areas.  We're close to running out as we get through quite a lot in a week, so please collect as much as you can on a regular basis and drop off at Ap Lei Chau or Tai Po.  Thanks.
