Sun 1st Oct: What a day!

Harvey (and sister Laura) are still waiting for homes
Iris hasn't had time to send me all the names and details of the poodles that left the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre because it was non-stop all day, and it was a similar scenario at Whiskers N Paws and very different from last Sunday. Jimmy Tsang was the volunteer photographer at Whiskers N Paws and you can see the whole set here.  Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 89 new photos to the album Puppy Adoption Day 1 October 2017 — at Whiskers N Paws
Laura is a wonderful puppy

Another regular and also very popular photographer, Eric Tang, was kind enough to go to the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to record all of the new poodles, and his set of photos will be posted later.

I know one of the lucky Ap Lei Chau dogs was Digby, a very happy and friendly poodle cross who should have been adopted a long time ago.  Maybe he was riding on the coat tails of the breeder poodle frenzy but that's fine, and at least any dog that was chosen in this way will already have had all of his or her health needs sorted.  As it was we had an on-site vet visit for thing for the breeder poodles, two of whom turned out to be very sick and suffering from the same brochopneumonia that poor little pom Bonnie died of.   We obviously kept these two back and they will probably have to go to hospital for treatment.
Digby was always the first to greet visitors

In all there were nine dogs that left the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and just as well because the next group of breeder dogs will be arriving on Wednesday, this time ten schnauzers and and English bulldog.   Schnauzers are another breed that are good for those who have allergy problems, and I hope we can be as lucky with them as we were with the poodles.

6 year-old girl pom surrendered today
We also took in two out of the three expected pom today, so as dogs were leaving they were also arriving.

A rare photo of Budgie with all feet on the ground
Baby Budgie was the star of the afternoon at Whiskers N Paws, but ironically not adopted.  It was the group of tan sisters who were lucky today, with Mandy, Gemma and Kia being taken home by their respective families, and fourth sister Marnie being chosen for pick up on another day.

First timer Hope was also a very popular girl and she is now in a lovely home, while Milo, the male of the black labalike siblings was taken for fostering with a view to adoption.

Even the older dogs were lucky, with Portman and Ashton (two football clubs if you didn't recognise the names) also being chosen.
