Thurs 12th Oct: Thank you for help when needed

Amber has gone to a foster home
As upsetting as some stories are that I write about, there are always the heartwarming cases of generosity and kindness to balance things out.  I suppose Amber's story falls into both camps with the sadness of her being dumped at AFCD with a bogus story of the owner moving into Public Housing, and then the donations coming in to cover the cost of the chemotherapy for her lymphoma, the real reason she was abandoned.  Amber left Tai Po for her foster home today and her six-month treatment starts at Acorn on Friday, and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed or offered help.  I will update on Amber's progress over the coming months.
Rafi is such a sweet boy

I also have to thank the two very kind people who stepped in to help with the two dogs we took back today, adopted as puppies earlier this year.  It's always a huge problem when now-grown puppies are returned as young adults because there is nowhere to put them.  They have been in homes as long as they can remember, and until now we have been housing returnees in the Education Centre across the road from the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre.  However there's no more space there after Lara and Nancy moved in, so it was a huge relief to have a foster home for Rafi and Patchy, although now separated.   We will need a new home for Rafi fairly urgently as his temporary foster is due to give birth soon and she has other dogs and cats to take care of as well.
Patchy has grown into a beautiful girl

Dilys
I took puppy Dilys to Acorn in the afternoon for her final vaccination meaning she can start to go out for walks now, or at least would be able to if she was in a home.  She is the last of this lovely all-girl litter and if you are looking for a happy, sweet-natured and totally charming puppy then Dilys is the one.

Even though it looks as though (heavy) rain is forecast for Sunday, Dilys and all the other puppies will be at

Whiskers N Paws as usual, including three new babies.  One of them is Lena's sister Bina, a lovely and very playful little girl now staying at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, with the other two due to come to us on Friday from AFCD Sheung Shui.  I have a feeling these gorgeous fluffies won't be waiting for long, but just in case they aren't taken home on Sunday we could do with foster homes for them. Please let Cindy know if you can help by emailing foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.
