Sat 11th March: Full house and more

One of the new pom girls
Not that long ago we had virtually no small dogs at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and those that came in were adopted within a day.  Now they are arriving so fast we barely have time to give them names and get them to the vet, and today four more little recruits turned up from a breeder, all throwaways for whatever reason.  There are two poms that we were told were three years old (although we can't take that age as real until we get them checked), a schnauzer cross and a poodle, the only boy. We really do have a growing  "flock" of poms now, tiny balls of fluffiness and all very sweet.  Apart from the two new girls though, all of the poms are very much seniors with the youngest being nine, and most around fourteen.  Still, this breed are known to live for a long time so they could well have a good few years of meaningful life ahead of them.

Now it means that the puppies who went to Ap Lei Chau to stay (because there was space there) really need to move out, but we need somewhere for them to go to.  Foster homes are urgently required to help ease the overcrowding at this particular time, whether for the small adults or the puppies.  Please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can offer temporary accommodation to a four-legged guest.   Food, bed and bowls are provided and all you have to do is turn up and take a dog home (after arranging with Cindy).

The two vizsla boys were picked up from Tai Po after their adopter had rushed over on Friday afternoon to meet them and confirm the offer of a forever home, and there was another lucky boy who left the Homing Centre around the same time.  Thanks to Daniel's adopter for giving a lovely dog a chance of happiness and a real home for life.

5 new puppies from Shatin AFCD
Now the focus is on our puppies, and what seems like hundreds of them.  You can preview the selection by looking at last Sunday's photos,
Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 145 new photos from 5 March to the album Puppy Adoption Day 5 March 2017.
but we have quite a few more to add now including the five that came from Shatin AFCD on Friday.
