Weds 12 Oct: Faith in humanity restored

Mitten and Bella are sisters now
What do you do when you can't decide between two dogs?  Take both of course, and so it was that two very sweet little girls found a home together.  Shih tzu Mitten and bichon Bella share the same ex-breeder experience (ie. abuse) which left Mitten blind and Bella with a badly damaged trachea, so it's doubly happy that they have a wonderful new life ahead of them.

Alfredo has become an honorary basset hound now

Mother-and-daughter basset hounds joined ex-Ap Lei Chau dogs Alfredo and another basset, Ah Bo, making four very happy and lucky dogs in their forever home.   We never thought Alfredo would be chosen, not only because of his age but because for some reason he had had his penis surgically removed and was left with just a hole in his belly instead.    When Ah Bo was brought to the Homing Centre to choose a new friend it was Alfredo that he wanted, and what we never dreamed would happen did. Looking at the photo it really seems that this is the perfect match.
Zippo

Zippo is another victim of a ruthless and heartless breeder, and his MRI results were very disappointing as they indicated that surgery isn't an option.  Zippo's spine is compressed in several places rather than just one, and that means that unless he can somehow heal himself he will be permanently paralysed in his hind quarters.  The fact that he had been standing and walking not that long ago means there is a very small (tiny) chance that it was some kind of injury that resulted in his current condition and therefore a minute possibility that he may recover, but the MRI and X-rays showed a misshapen spine and vertebrae common in bulldogs so the prognosis is poor.  However, despite knowing this we have received an offer of a home for this lovely boy so it's not all bad news.

Whenever I'm feeling down after a bad few days I just need to think of these lucky dogs and their wonderfully kind adopters and I am reminded that there are many lovely people out there, and my faith is restored.
