Weds 3rd Jan: More little surprises

Westie boy puppy

Still more new arrivals today, with additional puppies coming in from a couple of sources as well as a seven month-old West Highland terrier (Westie) boy.  This is one of those dogs who has been an "exhibit" in a prosecution case, so has presumably spent months at AFCD kennels and will not be toilet trained.

In anticipation of a rush of potential adopters, we will choose the first home that we feel can provide the best life, but that doesn't mean everyone else has been rejected for adoption.  It just means that if there's only one particular dog then we can only let it go to one home, but there are so many others also in need.

These two are very tiny

Going back to the two surprises that came today, they're both very small young adults, weighing four and five kilos, which is a lot less that many puppies.  I can't imagine they'll have to wait long to find new homes, and if you're interested please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.

Is there a foster home for the two white pups?

Two of the incoming puppies are from AFCD, while another pair are from the "Rescue Auntie" who has saved so many lives over the years.  We agreed to start taking this particular litter two by two, as a couple had died during the recent very cold weather.  We'll start with the smallest, being the white ones, and if we can get them into foster homes we can accept more.  I will also be donating a couple of dog houses which will at least provide a warm and dry shelter for the pups and prevent further tragedies. If you can foster the two white pups, please complete the form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/ , or contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you are already registered as a foster home.

Ino is adopted

Another shiba was adopted today, and this time it was Ino who has started his new life away from the breeder.  I assume these young males are the ones that didn't find buyers and have become surplus stock.  Unsold female puppies will be kept to produce still more, so we rarely receive them unless they  are unsellable, like Kira who suffers from muscle twitching due to puppyhood distemper.  It would be wonderful if she could find a family to love her, as she's a very sweet girl and easy to care for in the sense that she doesn't need a lot of exercise.
