It seems either there's no puppies coming in or there's many of them all at the same time, and we're now in the latter situation. That's not even counting the many youngsters still in their baby foster homes, and they're growing fast so it won't be long before they've reached the adoption age. For now though, I got a message from AFCD Pokfulam letting me know there were two puppies for re-homing, at the same time as receiving another message from AFCD Sheung Shui (officially New Territories North) about five puppies and a young adult. That's in addition to the two puppies we'd already been told about, so on Friday driver Ming will be picking up a total of seven puppies and the adult from Sheung Shui.

Today's two puppies could be taken immediately and they aren't related, at least directly even if I think most local dogs share similar ancestry. Both are black and female but one is a bit older than the other, and they're now Lexi and Leyla. As it happens all of the Sheung Shui puppies are females too, so I have to come up with a lot of girls' names. Four of those pups appear to be quite small sized as well as being almost identical, so I'm guessing they're crossbreeds as opposed to mixed breed and will be no larger than medium as adults. Crossbreeds are a mix of two specific breeds, while mixed breeds are just that, a mix of all sorts.

We have a mass vaccination appointment booked for Saturday with thirteen puppies due to be checked and vaccinated so it's going to be a busy weekend as well as the challenge of sorting, naming, de-worming, Frontlining and so on when they arrive on Friday. We already have a pretty full house with lots of other puppies, even if not all are fully ready for adoption quite yet.
I need to mention that no matter how many puppies we have and how full the Homing Centre is, we will always try to make sure that adopters are ready for the commitment of a dog for life, and that they have the time and space needed. If you're interested in giving a puppy (or an adult dog) a home, please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ as a first step.
