Sat 6th Feb: Finally it's Rubble's turn

I'm going to start with today's adoptions as that's always the best part of any day, and what we're really here for.

At last it was Rubble's turn

I'm so happy that it was finally Rubble's turn, and not only did he find a lovely home but there was even a seond potential adopter planning to come to meet him.  It was obviously the right time for this lovely little guy.

As I had mentioned we'd asked that foster puppies be returned to our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to give them a better chance of being seen and chosen, and that's exactly what happened with brothers Willy and Walter.  I mean both came back but it was only Willy who was almost immediately adopted, and maybe Sunday will be Walter's big day too.

Springer spaniel Josie was surrendered and left soon afterwards with her new family, something that had been pre-arranged so not a surprise.

I had to come up with names for the new nine poodle girls in a hurry as two of them had to see a vet as a matter of urgency, and one ended up needing a blood transfusion.  When we'd previously asked for a blood donor in the Happy Valley area there had been a couple of offers for any future need, both of which I couldn't find in the late panic to get a dog over to Concordia.  Poor Carlo is our standby at Ap Lei Chau even though he's a timid dog, and while Eagle was able to escort him over to the clinic he had to stay there on his own overnight.  Sorry Carlo.  Anyway, if you live in the Happy Valley area and would be willing to let your dog donate blood for future cases, please email me at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com so I can make sure I have your contact.  Any blood donor must obviously be young and healthy, as well as 20 kilos or above if possible.

For the record the poodles are all flower girls, being Tulip, Rose, Lily, Jasmine, Lilac, Violet, Holly, Poppy and Daisy.

In a surprise and very welcome move, some human-only parks are being opened up to allow dogs on a trial basis.  Of course dogs must be leashed, something which rather defeats the object in my mind, but it's a giant step forward in accepting that dogs are a big part of many peoples' lives and that they deserve to be acknowledged as such.  Here's the link that shows which parks are now dog-inclusive: https://www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/facilities/otherinfo/petpark.html?fbclid=IwAR1LN_qrLxo4GBNvGPiLeuzBBQ4Djg4islrioC4l_fiOFt1LzbzsEkpECNM

My Lamma dog Batty came home today and he's already settled back in to his usual routine, which included jumping on my bed for the regular night time treat the dogs get.  I think he'll be fine.
