Three incredibly lucky babies
Talking of lucky, I've just received a message about some puppies being found after they had been washed down a hillside by the heavy rain.  So far there are three alive and safe, with the rescuer out looking for more in case they can be located.  For all the horrible stories we read about every day, we have to remember that there is also tremendous kindness and dedication, like this rescuer who has saved many puppies in the past as well.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help with looking after these babies until they're old enough to be adopted.
How and where the pups were found - amazing!

We had a lot of potential adopters visiting our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre as well as a lot of enquiries about a few of our puppies.  You can see some lovely videos of the Homing Centre residents at https://www.facebook.com/HKDR.DOGGIES/ including two doglets who were adopted but later returned.  Kit and Coral are still puppies but older ones now, around eight months, and although a completely different size they love playing together.   It's because of cases like these that we try to be very careful about who adopts, because even then there's no guarantee that it will be a home for life.   Coral was returned for being too scared, although she's clearly very happy back at the Homing Centre, and Kit because apparently his family were leaving Hong Kong.  He came back with two cherry eyes and will have surgery very soon, and somehow I suspect this is more likely the reason for him coming back. For both of them it's much better that they were returned to us so they can go to better homes next time.

Beanie looks very cute but he'll need time to come round
The surrendered bichon Beanie is settling in and coming out of his shell, and hopefully will continue to improve with handling by our staff and volunteers.  He's not suitable for a home with children, or anyone without experience, and we won't let him go until we're sure that he's ready.
