Mon 3rd Aug: All animals need to play

Ruby's going home photo
It was fairly quiet today compared to the weekend, but I can share Ruby's adoption photo which was missing from yesterday's collection.

Bigger doglet Coral is so good at making friends

While we're waiting for the new small dogs that may or may not turn up, the staff at Ap Lei Chau tried introducing Yorkie Dublin to the bigger dogs at the Centre.  We'd found that Dublin wasn't keen on the other little ones and that's obviously a problem, but recently-returned doglet Coral has become a friend to everyone and is one of those dogs that quickly manages to get everyone playing.  Now we know that Dublin is fine with bigger dogs it will help him find a home, so our next project will be French bulldog Romeo.  Will Coral be able to work her charm on this boy who so far has resisted all efforts to make friends?

Play is so important to all animals regardless of species, and dogs who have been deprived of the freedom to play as puppies can still learn when older.   The three newest arrivals from AFCD were all breeder dogs, but look at them now as they discover how to have fun for the first time in their lives.
