Sat 15th Feb: The Bamboo story continues

Lovely little Renee is adopted
After a long wait, or longer than usual for a young and small-sized dog, little Renee finally left the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre with her adopters to start a new life.  Very shortly after coming to us Renee had developed a large abscess which needed surgery and took weeks to heal, but now her turn has come.

Shorter hours for this week only

I kept expecting the weather to turn cold as forecast, but that didn't happen until the middle of the night when I had to get up to put a coat on my small dog Murphy.   Sunday's Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoon will go ahead of course, but we'll have to wait until the time comes to see if it's going to be warm enough to have the older puppies outside on the terrace while keeping the younger ones inside.  Either way you'll be able to meet all of the puppies, whether at Whiskers N Paws or our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and they're only five(ish) minutes apart.  A reminder once again that we'll only be at Whiskers N Paws from 2pm to 4pm, although next week should be back to the usual 2pm to 5pm timing.

The cold weather made me think about the doberman Bamboo, as he's one of the dogs that really does need a coat due to his thin coat.  Most dogs don't need them, having a natural fur coat of their own, but those with very short hair like the sharpei types, and the smaller types, do feel the cold.
Bamboo needs a home!

Going back to Bamboo, we managed to get his vet records sent over from the clinic who had been taking care of him since he was a puppy, and we should be able to get his license transferred to my name within a day or two.  Now a home is needed for this lovely boy, so please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ or for fostering contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.  Bamboo is easy to have around but a home without other dogs would be best.  This is what his ex-owner said:

He is good with people and kids and in good health. He is ok with other dogs if he knows them but would be better off with a family where he is the only dog. He is very smart and works things out very quickly esp when there is food involved. He is good on the lead and loves to play and especially swim. He would be perfect for someone that likes to go for long walks and lives in the countryside. He is a good guard dog as you would expect from a Doberman. As an older dog he is also content to sleep all day esp sunbathe.
