Of course there's always the option of adopting a pair, and it's funny how the prospect of taking two dogs instead of one seems to scare people. Many adopters of a single dog come back later for a second once they realise that two dogs is really easier than one, as they entertain and provide twenty four-hour company for each other. Even small dogs in pairs have trouble being adopted together yet many homes have more than one.

Hailey is a very easy and sweet girl |
By now you must all know the story of Hailey and Otis who were found tied to the railings outside Wanchai SPCA. We know who did it because the dogs were adopted from us, which is why they're now back and staying at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre. I asked our trainer Cactus if they needed to be homed as a pair, knowing how difficult that is, and she said that they are very close, sharing a bed and even eating from the same food bowl sometimes, but they don't seem to be totally dependent on each other. If it makes any difference to them finding homes then we will separate them even if it would be lovely for them to stay together.
Otis is a funny shape but also very sweet |
We had so many enquiries about Ruthie and I was fully expecting her to be leaving today with her new family, but that didn't happen so I'll be taking her and two of the other new dogs (Snickers and Carter) to Whiskers N Paws on Sunday. I know they're not puppies but they're young and smaller sized, and if it's not raining too hard they can have fun playing on the terrace.
We weren't able to secure a photographer for the afternoon when our expected regular had to cancel, so if there are any photographers available to come to Whiskers N Paws from 2pm to 5pm (or even for just an hour), it would be very helpful.
We need new photos of mini-dog Snickers |
