Fri 11th Oct: Upstairs, downstairs and round the corner

The new dogs were busy winning hearts at Ap Lei Chau today, and thanks once again to long-term volunteer Harryn for great photos for me to share.   I have a feeling Ruthie won't be staying with us for too long, and hopefully Carter too as he's also quite a small-sized dog with a fantastic personality and very affectionate.  I'll be bringing another small-but-looks-bigger dog over to Whiskers N Paws on Sunday, but for now Snickers is having fun on Lamma playing with the residents of the Home for Small Delinquents, and little terror Banjo in particular.

We have quite a collection of what we call "Red Dogs", that is small dogs who have trust issues with strangers and aren't suitable for homes with children.  However every single one of these dogs are absolutely fine with the volunteers they know, and it's such a shame that they're never given the chance to prove that they can be perfectly loving if given a chance.  From time to time someone takes a "Red" dog home, and all of those we currently have at the "Red Dog Centre" (round the corner and separate from our regular Homing Centre) are available for adoption.

We also have many older and larger dogs staying upstairs at Ap Lei Chau who don't have any behaviour problems, those like Blake, Jack, Hailey and Otis.  There's also little Salty who's changed from being terrified when first rescued to being happy and affectionate now.  Please ask about these upstairs dogs if you want to give a dog in need a chance of a real home.
Most of our Red Dogs are poodles

Ask to meet our Upstairs Dogs at Ap Lei Chau

Our van driver Ming was off today so there wasn't much for me to do other than take some time for myself, a rare but welcome opportunity.  I'll be back at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday so see you then.
