Mon 7th Oct: New small dogs on their way

Arriving on Tuesday
Holidays are usually our busiest times but lately that hasn't been the case, although we're open every day of course and did have some visitors dropping in.  We'll be getting new small-sized dogs on Tuesday, in fact they're on their way as I'm writing.  We don't have any details of age but from the photos I was sent they look like young adults, so we'll see.
This one looks young

One of the dogs is a poodle, and once again I have to remind people that this breed is both intelligent and needy, often demanding and not always easy.
New poodle

Even the sweetest of poodles can be a challenge because they want attention and mental stimulation, which means seeing and doing interesting things.  They don't do well being left alone and suffer from separation anxiety, so at the very least they do better having another dog friend for those times when the humans need to go out.  Poodles are one of the breeds abandoned more than any other, which is why we have several of them staying at our "Red Dog" Homing Centre.

Gretel-Arwen is a happy girl now
Gretel was one of the previous small dogs we took in from the same source, and while she was very scared at first she's done so well in her trial home that her adoption has been confirmed.  She's now Arwen, official sister to ex-HKDR Whitey (now Gandalf), and it's quite incredible seeing the change in her.  All it took was for her to feel safe and loved, and I'm sure having Gandalf there was a great help too.

Just a reminder that we still have lots of red wine for sale at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and at the ridiculously low price of $50 a bottle or $500 a case.  Stocks are going down so don't leave it too long if you want to come and choose your selection.
