Tues 2nd Jan: Congratulations to Violet

Thank you Whiskers N Paws and all donors
It's taking a while to get back into the swing of things and for people to return from their holidays judging from how quiet the roads are, so I took advantage of the lull to pick up the donations from Operation Santa Paws that were waiting at Whiskers N Paws.  After sorting through the boxes everything was divided between the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, Tai Po and Lamma, so thank you to everyone who contributed to this Christmas appeal.

A classic Hong Kong view for Darcy

There was one adoption to kick off the New Year as Yorkshire terrier Violet officially became Darcy in her forever home.  She had been on a trial for a couple of weeks, as coming from a breeder she had a lot of adjustments to make after years in a cage.  It's just the best feeling seeing these scared dogs blossom into happy and confident personalities.
Life's a picnic now for Violet-Darcy

Happy couples at Ap Lei Chau
We still have a lot of small ex-breeder dogs at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and while they are happy with what they have - which is a dream compared to their previous situation - we're looking forward to seeing them move on to real family homes.  It would be even better if those who have tight bonds with their four-legged friends could stay together, like the King Charles cavaliers William and Harry or shih tzus Gavin and Dolly.

I was really hoping to be able to make an announcement about a new Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre location, but we have come to a standstill on that and it seems to be permanent.  There are alternatives so all is not lost, but I did jump the gun in assuming that it was a done deal on this one shop.
