Sun 7th Jan: Coco and Mary

Coco and her new family
It was blowing a bitterly cold wind on the Whiskers N Paws terrace today, and only the older puppies and human children seemed oblivious.  I did put coats on the two six month-old pointers though, as having a very thin coat I thought they needed them, and the two babies Beatrice and Eugenie were also dressed to prevent them feeling chilly.  Coco was the lucky pup today, but the others had great fun as always, especially the pointers who played energetically the whole afternoon.  They're such lovely dogs but already very large, and I'm beginning to think they are half Great Dane while wondering what their final adult size will be.  Jimmy Tsang was today's volunteer photographer and his as-always wonderful set can be seen here:  Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 77 new photos to the album Puppy Adoption Day 7 January 2018 — at Whiskers N Paws

The play went on all afternoon
I was also prompted to take a video of the two pointers, Dolly and Teddy, as they wrestled their way round the terrace, ignoring everyone and everything as they did so, although unfortunately I don't seem to be able to upload it at this point. .

Best friends Nancy (l), Lara and Portman (front)
Schnauzer Daisy and previously unlucky Portman were taken home from our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre today, and I really hope it's third time lucky for Portman.  It's never been his fault that he has ended up coming back to us and he's very happy in the office with his friends Lara and Nancy, but he's a young and lovely boy with a very sweet nature so he really should be in a home.
Time for the Christmas tree to come down Mary

Mary, the ex-Stanley Barracks dog who was chosen unseen to move to the South of France, made it to Paris safely and is now happily settled in her new home.  Can you believe this girl was once living as a stray before being caught and sent to AFCD to meet her fate?  What a fantastic and happy change of circumstance.

Monday is going to be a busy day for me as I go back to AFCD after a break, and there are a lot of dogs and puppies waiting to be taken out.  I have no idea what they look like as I have been keeping away (for political reasons) so it will be a surprise for me as much as it will be for the visitors at next week's puppy afternoon.
