Tues 7th June: Two Presents and Bomber

Jack has been sharing his birthday through Two Presents since he was a little boy
I hadn't realised when I was planning my week that Thursday is a holiday, so I'm looking forward to having two days in a row at home even though it's never really a day off with so many dogs around.

Today was also a break from the usual routine as I dropped by to have a chat with Two Presents, a company who promote donations to charities with a 50/50 sharing concept.  Over the past few years we've been lucky enough to share the birthdays of many children who have chosen Hong Kong Dog Rescue as their charity, and I think it's a great way to instill the concept of giving without actually taking anything away.  Take a look at the website www.twopresents.com and see how it works.
Gavin also shared his birthday with HKDR via Two Presents

Choosing the best home for Bomber is going to be hard
As expected there was a big response to the photo of Bomber, the Boston terrier-cross, after it was posted on Facebook, and I do have to stress that he is an extremely energetic little dog who doesn't seem to have been toilet (potty) trained or maybe trained in any way at all.  He is a lovely boy with a very friendly attitude towards people, but he's not great with other dogs and whoever adopts him will need to start from scratch when it comes to teaching the basics.  Maybe his ex-owner can enlighten us on the "can't be trained" reason given for surrender, and tell us whether any attempt had even been made or if, as in so many cases, puppies were expected to be born knowing the rules. For too many dog owners "training" means shouting No! repeatedly, as if somehow in a dog's brain that word transforms into something with an actual meaning.

As in all cases when we have a dog that so many people want to adopt, choosing the best home is always hard and we hope we get it right. It doesn't mean that all of the other would-be homes are bad or not suitable, it only means that there is one dog and he can't be shared, and hopefully other dogs will be considered instead.
