Please support these wonderful kids and their efforts |
Sunday is another matter of course, and we really want dry weather for our puppies at Whiskers N Paws but also for a group of enthusiastic children who will once again be selling plants and flowers to raise public awareness of dog abandonment in Tai Lam Country Park. Did you know that large numbers of pet dogs are taken there and left behind on a regular basis? It's shocking but true, and these aren't only mixed breeds either, but many unwanted dogs of all kinds are just left behind to die. So this is really an important awareness event that is run entirely by the kids, and the flower sale will take place from 11.30am to 3pm near the kiosk and public washrooms close to the Milk Farm. In their first year $2,300 was raised and last year it went up to an incredible $4,375. This year they target to raise $5,000 for HKDR to help more dogs, so please drop by and buy a plant, or simply donate to show your support for this wonderful initiative.
2 of 4 new puppies |
I'm starting to build up an over-supply of young puppies again so the thought of a wet and rainy Sunday isn't a good one. The smaller girls and boys can be inside so that's at least not so much of a problem, but the older puppies will have to brave the terrace or not go at all.
Suzie is an absolute sweetheart |
I particularly wanted to take newly-abandoned Suzie along to show her off, as she's shown herself to be the loveliest doglet, very sweet with humans and happy to play all day long with her foster friend Benji. If you're looking for a medium-sized dog who has grown up with children, is fully trained and well behaved, this girl is just right for you.
Barney-Calvin is gorgeous |
I'm also looking for a new home for Barney-now-Calvin, another gorgeous doglet of around the same age as Suzie and also about to be made homeless. We just don't have the space to take back puppies that were adopted as babies and then no longer wanted as "teenagers" through no fault of their own. As much as I'm not interested in helping the failed adopters in their attempts to rid themselves of their mistake, it's the dogs that I care about. Barney-Calvin is gorgeous, sweet and everything else nice that can be said, and I want him to be in a home that loves him and will keep him for his whole life. Please let me know if you're interested in either of these sweet doglets at sally@hongkongdogrescue.com
