Tues 3rd April: Help needed for Molly and Oscar

I'm still trying to come up with a name for the Drain Puppy
We have new puppies arriving just in time for Saturday's
HEAL Animal Wellness and Rehabilitation
Puppy Afternoon, 1pm to 4pm at 10 Second Street, Sai Ying Pun, including one new arrival today who was found in a drain.  I'm trying to think of an appropriate name but nothing appealing has come to mind yet.

The two puppies I took from AFCD recently both had tick fever and were immediately started on Liquid Gold (Atovaquone), a human malaria treatment.  While the girl, Trilby, responded well to the medicine, the boy Tarmac was getting worse and had to be sent to Acorn.  It seemed strange that the treatment wasn't doing what it was supposed to until something happened........ Tarmac pooped a plastic bottle cap.  Starving dogs and puppies will eat anything they can find and the bottle cap was probably swallowed along with something edible, and was then causing a lot of problems obviously.  Once eliminated from the system there was a very quick improvement in Tarmac's condition, not to mention appetite, so he will soon be completely better.

Young, handsome and oh so sweet, who will adopt Adobe?
The new Doberman, Adobe, went to Acorn for a health check and just like the two females we have of the same breed he's a really sweet and affectionate boy.  He took a liking to our driver, Ming, and was smothering him in kisses, so I do hope it won't be too long before this lovely dog moves to a real home.

The packing up at the Education Centre is in full swing and all of the staff are busy emptying the cupboards and filling bags and boxes in preparation for the imminent move.  Meanwhile at what will become the combined Homing Centre and office, renovation work is well underway, and with a deadline of less than two weeks for the office part we're anxious that there are no delays.   We still have a few cases of wine that need to be moved if anyone is interested in buying them at the bargain price of $50 a bottle.

Molly (who used to be Fanta) and Oscar
You all know how I feel about puppy adopters who leave their dogs behind when they move home or relocate to another country without taking their four-legged family members alone.  However, there are times and situations when re-homing is unavoidable  and that's obviously a very different matter. I do know that the family who are trying to find homes for their two dogs are devastated at being in this situation so we are doing our best to help.
Baby Fanta

Molly and Oscar were adopted as a pair so now at two years old consider themselves to be bother and sister, so we are keen for them to stay together if at all possible.  They are both very sweet dogs, with Oscar (the black boy) being full of energy and always eager to go for hikes and swimming, while Molly is more of a laid-back homebody.   If you are looking for two wonderful young adult dogs to complete your family, please consider helping both this pair as well as the family who have been rocked with a devastating situation over which they have no control.   Please start by completing the adoption questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt) and/or by sharing the information in the hope that it will find the perfect new family for these sweet dogs.
