Mon 8th Aug: New baby puppy supply

Spotty reminds me so much of the Whippety pups
After Loretta was adopted on Sunday I found myself in the unusual position of having no young and friendly puppies for adoption, and I was wondering how long it would take for the next lot to arrive.  I didn't have to wait as there were four adorable babies at AFCD Pokfulam when I went there today, plus two more at AFCD Sheung Shui.  I left the Pokfulam four at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre in the hope that they would find foster homes, while posting photos of two of them on Facebook.  In every mixed litter there are the more photogenic ones, and almost always one that is entirely black, and that's exactly the case here.  The fourth pup is a regular black-and-tan, and while they are all lovely I strongly suspect that the pair I posted will be taken first.  If you are able to foster any of the pups from either AFCD Centre please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com
I've already had a couple of enquiries about Biggles

These adorable babies will need foster homes too

Luckily space for the puppies was available at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre as all but one of the breeder schnauzers have gone to foster homes, and both of the poodles who arrived last week (Willis and Chase) have also been provisionally taken.
It's not the best photo, but this is little Yogi

Our funny surprise Yogi, one of the litter of three who never grew bigger than small-sized, was also taken for fostering today.  These siblings were all very timid pups so I moved them from Lamma to Ap Lei Chau for socialisation.  Loopy, the smallest, made the move to the Homing Centre first after she was desexed, followed by fluffy boy Yogi, and he has done really well in terms of gaining confidence.  You can't really judge their size from the photos but Loopy is no bigger than a schnauzer and Yogi is only slightly bigger than his sister.  I can't imagine what their mix is but I hope the fact that they have stayed so little will work in their favour.

The days are just flying by and we have to start thinking about post-summer and the busy time of the year for activities, events and fundraising.  Our very popular "Positive Partners" training course for dogs and their human counterparts starts up again in September after a two-month break, and you can find out more by emailing Cactus at education@hongkongdogrescue.com.  This is a fun but practical four-session course which will teach the whole family about the basics of positive training, the how and why it works.

Tickets are selling well for the "Game of Bones" gala dinner which will be taking place on Saturday 1st October, and you can email jamie@hongkongdogrescue.com for information and reservations.  Fans of the cult TV show will understand the poster, but even if you have no idea about "Game of Thrones" it doesn't matter.  The evening is shaping up to be another great one, which will combine fun and entertainment with the all-important fundraising aspect.
