Sun 5th Nov: An interesting day

If you're not English, or British, you won't know what "Remember, remember, the fifth of November" means (it relates to an historical plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament by Guy Fawkes), but today will be one to remember for several reasons.

Smartie launches herself into the games

Firstly I want to share Jimmy Tsang's always-fantastic photos of the puppies at Whiskers N Paws Puppy Adoption Day 5th Nov 2023, including one that must be shot of the month.   It was Smartie's first time at the Puppy Party and she was obviously keen to get stuck in with the playing!  I hope she has plenty of opportunities to find new playmates in her new home, because being unable to resist Smartie's "love me" tactics, she has a forever family now and a new name, Pancake.
Smartie's "love me" move

Smartie is now Pancake

Babs, now Lexi, wasn't a surprise adoption because we knew her foster family, and their dog, had fallen in love and were keeping her.

Babs is now Lexi

Latte is already adopted

I mentioned the two maybe-surrenders yesterday, and they did in fact turn up.  They are young poodle girls, both under a year old, and I knew they wouldn't be with us for long.  The smaller one, Latte, was adopted before the end of the day and the other, Mocha, has potential adopters coming to meet her.

Border collie girl

We seem to be receiving surrender requests for quite a lot of older puppy breeds, and while as you know by now not all of them end up actually arriving, I would like to mention another doglet we were asked to take.  This one is a ten month-old Border Collie female, and if you can provide the right environment and lifestyle for this breed, please complete the adoption questionnaire.
Mocha is 7 months old

These five still need foster homes

We had still more new arrivals in the shape of seven puppies, four boys and three girls, and an overweight golden retriever who's now at our Tai Po Homing Centre if anyone would like to meet him. Losing several kilos will make a huge difference to this boy's health and energy levels.
We're still deciding on a name for this boy

We will need foster homes for the puppies please, and if not already completed please fill out the form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/.  (Two pups had already been picked up when this photo was taken, which is why there are only five shown).  We will provide all food and everything else you will need during the foster period.   Of course the puppies are also available for adoption, but at the moment we will ask that they stay in pairs for a while unless you already have a dog that would be happy to have a puppy friend.

Finally, doglet Yaddle has now moved into our Kennedy Town Centre, and hopefully that will mean a lot more exposure and the opportunity for her to meet potential adopters.  I'm sure she feels confused and quite scared right now, but she'll make friends and settle down.

For all adoption enquiries please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.
