Thurs 7th July: Still more arrivals

The 3 new puppies from AFCD

The new dogs and puppies arrived from AFCD Shatin while the latest group of small-sized adults staying at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre were all at the vet having their health checks and vaccinations (thankfully there were none with heartworm, tick fever or any other real problems).  We took in three puppies at Kennedy Town, and the Tai Po Homing Centre received two adults, and I believe all of these came from the same previous home.  Normally we wouldn't send older puppies out to foster homes, but the fact is that we don't have the space at our small Homing Centre to keep so many puppies so getting them into temporary care is necessary.

New Tai Po dog Colin

I'd mentioned a recent intake of puppies who came to us with a serious respiratory infection, and who had to be hospitalised in different vet clinics.  Tia was sent to East Island Animal Hospital where she charmed the staff so much that she has been offered a home.  It's not the usual adoption route and the puppies have been (and some still are) very sick, but for Tia it turned out to be a lucky turn of events.

22 Elgin Street, Soho

Our new Elgin Street Positive Partners Training Course starts on Friday, so it will be good to see how everything goes.  The space also doubles as a store selling HKDR merchandise and all dog-related products, as well as our current office until the new Kennedy Town office location (plus Red Dog Centre) is finished (hopefully by the end of July).  We were also discussing whether it would be a good idea to hold regular adult dog adoption afternoons at Elgin Street, offering the Tai Po dogs the chance to easily be seen by Hong Kong Island residents.  Maybe we will even keep a couple of the dogs there on a permanent basis, until they're adopted.

Until then, you can meet the many older puppies and adults staying at our Tai Po Homing Centre any day of the week, with smaller dogs and younger puppies at Kennedy Town.  Sunday afternoons are when the foster puppies are brought to Whiskers N Paws to meet potential adopters, from 2pm to 4pm.   Before visitng any of these locations please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/, thank you.
