Get ready to party ...... |
I keep thinking September's a long way off but then I realise it's only three months away, so not too soon to be talking about this year's big annual fundraiser which is taking place on Saturday 21st at the Aberdeen Marina Club. We're having some fun on the planning because we want to make sure that the evening is going to be something different, as well as bringing in the important funding for the coming year. Full information will be sent out very soon, but if you have any enquiries about potential sponsorship for the event itself, or auction prizes to donate, please get in touch any time by emailing gary@hongkongdogrescue.com. The theme and basic run of the evening is already well underway, and if you're wondering what it will be here's a strong hint

The summer is coming up and it's a tough time for adoptions as so many people leave the steaming heat of Hong Kong for their holidays, so even the enquiries we're getting tend to be for later in the year. It's frustrating, but also sad for the puppies especially as they miss their "golden time" for being chosen, the weeks when they are at their cutest. At least at HKDR there's no time limit to how long we keep our dogs so it only means a move to Tai Po for the older puppies still waiting, but for some that wait may end up being forever, and that's heartbreaking. It's just bad luck for the puppies that are born at the wrong time of the year and it seems totally unfair that it should be the reason for them being in a home, or living out their lives at the Homing Centre.

Otto lived with the Stanley Barracks group but wasn't one of them |
After Libby was sent off to her new family today, now all of the Stanley Barracks puppies from the most recent intake have been adopted (that's Scout, Kibble, Inca, Portman and Libby). However we still have Scout and Kibble's older relatives, Ivory and Tusk, as well as many others including all of the puppies that were recently sent up from our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, with only Heather having been lucky so far. Otto was one of the puppies that used to hang out with the Stanley Barracks group but he didn't come from the same place and he's still waiting to be chosen. Remember both of our Homing Centres are open every single day of the year regardless of Public Holidays or typhoons, so you can visit any time.
