Thurs 6th June: Another long weekend coming up

Nine arrived, and then there were eight
The new intake from AFCD Sheung Shui arrived today, a litter of nine puppies, a poodle and a chihuahua, and in possibly the fastest time ever the black female puppy was picked up and whisked away to her new home.  She has to fit in with the resident ex-HKDR dog so I can't say it's a confirmed adoption just yet, but here's hoping.  All of the others are boys so I need to come up with eight names in a hurry, and I hope I can find some inspiration and not fall back on the usual.
The chihuahua is young and looks like a typical breeder dog

The chihuahua is young but has bad skin and the poodle is a senior with bad knees, and neither are a surprise knowing what we do about the breeders and their complete lack of care and compassion.  It's all about money and nothing else, and while those dogs with genetic health problems need to be desexed so they can't be bred to produce further unhealthy puppies, that just doesn't happen.  We've seen many dogs with such bad knees that amputation is the only option, and yet people just keep buying puppies.  It's more than frustrating, it's heartbreaking for the dogs whose lives are a mess and who suffer until they die.
The poodle is 9 years old

It's another long weekend coming up with the Dragon Boat Festival on Friday, so I'll be working from home on that day but both Homing Centres are open as usual.   We have so many lovely dogs available of all sizes, so please come to meet them.  Here's a video of some of our Ap Lei Chau dogs, and you can see how good natured they are and how they all get along https://www.facebook.com/hkdogrescue/videos/688859794886274/
