Weds 9th March: Winter is coming - again

It was very damp and foggy today as you can see from the photo of my dogs out on their morning walk. The weather matters to us because so many of our dogs live outside, and when it's very cold, or raining as it is now, they really feel it.  The temperature is forecast to drop dramatically this week and it's no joke for any of the dogs who haven't got proper shelter.  I know from my Lamma dogs that they always head for the softest bed available, so I do my best to make sure there are enough cosy spaces to go round.  Even though I personally don't mind it being cold, I mind it for the dogs and I worry for those who don't have thick coats like the huskies.  At least they are perfectly fine.

Although I don't have much to report in terms of adoptions, all of us are incredibly busy with preparations for the coming months and the new website.  For me that means reviewing the general content and updating or re-writing pages, while for others it's finding new photos for the dog profiles. With 600 dogs under our care that's quite a task, but being able to show all of them with as much information as possible is so important.  We're also planning on adding video clips to the profiles so you can imagine the work involved.

Cactus, our Education & Training Manager, already has a full plate with her post-adoption support, school and corporate talks and and the Positive Partners training classes on Sundays, but she too is now busy with putting together a series of upcoming workshops.  The first one will be a grooming workshop given by our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre Mananager, Iris Wu, who is a qualified and very experienced dog groomer.  To allow us to accommodate more participants than our own small Education Centre will allow, we will be holding this very popular workshop in a lovely alternative venue.  Details are:

Date: Saturday, 9th April
Time: 11am - 1pm
Venue: Wow Pet Shop (Quarry Bay)
Language: Cantonese

The gorgeous puppy we were expecting today will now be coming on Thursday instead, and we would be very grateful if she could go straight to a foster home after her vet check and vaccinations. If you can take Lulu in until she finds her forever home, which means bringing her to Whiskers N Paws on Sundays too, please let Cindy know at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.
