Another day of continual rain meant a quiet day for visitors, but as always that doesn't mean everything else stops. The new small dog Isaac went to see Dr Tony at Acorn to have his legs checked, and unfortunately he's going to need corrective surgery on both knees. The good news is that whereas I'd guessed Isaac to be around eight years of age after seeing photos of his teeth, Dr Tony said he's more like five. Obviously we'd love to see Isaac in a forever home, but in any case we'll be needing a foster for his post-surgery recovery. If you can help please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.
While we're currently spread out over three locations on Hong Kong Island, with the potential office-plus-Red Dog Centre still under construction in Kennedy Town, the Elgin Street "Store + More" is almost ready to open. We were doubly grateful to have been offered this wonderful spot because it meant having a temporary office space when we had nowhere else to go, and that's where we're currently based. The front section of the ground floor shop will be a small retail outlet where we can sell merchandise like our HKDR T-shirts and all dog-related items, while the lower floor will be for training classes. These will be starting up very soon, so if you're interested in joining please watch for news of dates and times. We'll also be offering a variety of dog-related classes and puppy socialisation, so again keep a lookout for updates.
Our small "Red Dog" Centre at 21 Ap Lei Chau Main Street is still home to a lot of our small and more challenging dogs, so it's nice to keep a foothold in our old stamping ground.
Puppies love company and cuddles |
I hope the weather will be better on Sunday, when we'll be back at Whiskers N Paws for our regular Puppy Party, 2pm to 4pm, and you can meet the three resident HKDR Ambassador puppies any day of the week at the store. We also have a full house at Kennedy Town, with lots of puppies available.
Please remember to complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step for all enquiries: https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/.
