Sat 4th June: Different breeds have different needs

Trinity (Trinnie) when she came to HKDR

Another one of the rooftop huskies had her adoption confirmed by the now ex-foster family, and while we wait to see if there will be others joining the Failed Foster Club we do know that not all will be.  Trinity, or Trinnie as she is called, is one of the husky girls that needs a forever home, and you may remember her as being an emergency case when she arrived as we thought she might be about to give birth.  Sadly it turned out that she had already had her puppies but they'd been taken from her, so for Trinnie it was a case of recovering from the physical and emotional effects of what had happened.  Happily she found a wonderful foster home where she was able to put her life back together, and she's ready to begin again.  If you're interested in adopting a husky and have enough space and time to offer these lovely dogs, please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/

If you would love to adopt a husky but realistically can't, you can still bring one of these lovely husky pups into your home, our friend and supporter at Momo’s Crochet @momoscrochet is fundraising for HKDR by making these adorable mini huskies.

🐾 For a minimum donation of $400, you can “adopt” one of them! The donations received will be used for the dogs from Tsuen Wan Rooftop Case.

Please email Momos.crochet@gmail.com if you are interested!

Different breeds have different needs, and although very few purebreeds have had any connection in their daily lives to their original purpose, they do still carry the genetic imprint for that.  I was thinking again about the shiba inu collection that we have at HKDR, all of whom were bought as puppies by people who hadn't appreciated that shibas are tough little dogs with a very strong character, and not at all suitable for small apartments and long hours left alone.   In the right home they're great companions being smart, funny, curious and bold, but these homes are hard to find.  If you would like to give a chance to Donny, Damson, Akio or Goji, again please complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/.   Homes with children or inexperienced adopters won't be considered to be suitable.

Puppies stick together like glue

Sunday means Whiskers N Paws and the afternoon puppy party, 2pm to 4pm, and we have so many gorgeous girls and boys hoping to be the lucky ones chosen.

If you can't make it on Sunday you can always meet the puppies staying at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre any day of the week, 10am to 6pm.
