Sun 12th June: TwoPresents is back!

Thank you Naomi!

As always Eric Tang's photos are so lovely, and here is the set for you to browse through Puppy Adoption Day 13th June 2022 (names will be added on Monday).

In addition to the adoption of older puppy Reece, there was also a wonderful Twopresents
donation from Naomi Lam, for which many thanks.  These donations have been sorely missed during the long period of social gathering bans, so it was a really happy moment seeing the Giant Cheque being dusted off and used once again.

Recce's new family particularly wanted an older puppy

There were a further two puppies adopted from our Kennedy Town Homing Centre, both recent arrivals and part of the "I" intake.

Isla left first, with Ivan's adoption being formalised later after a happy play session with the resident Westie.

All of the puppies attending today's Whiskers N Paws party were foster pups, and to refresh your memory in case you want to meet any of these puppies during the week, here's the list.  The benefit of an at-home meeting in familiar surroundings is that you see the puppies at their relaxed best, whereas for the younger ones especially, the puppy parties can be quite intimidating.  The other benefit is that evening meetings are possible, as we know that getting the whole family together during the week can often be difficult.  To arrange to meet any of the puppies, please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.

When I wrote yesterday's post about the sadness of losing a much-loved family dog, I didn't know that by Monday morning there would be even more sad losses.  One of our original HKDR Pokfulam-era dogs,  Kanga, finally succumbed to old age-related illness, and we're all grateful that she enjoyed being in a loving foster home until the end.

Another senior whose daily life had been followed by many on Instagram, myself included, made his final journey today.  Otis was special to us because of his sad story, but his last year of happiness in foster care made up for everything.  In fact, Otis had his adoption confirmed at the last minute, so he won't need to be included in our monthly list of Forever Dogs, rather he will be one of June's lucky adopted dogs.

At Tai Po, shy dog Huggy was booked to see a vet on Monday for what we thought would be a routine matter, but she passed away during the night.  Huggy had never had a real home to call her own, but like many other dogs at HKDR, she was one of our very large family.
