Sat 11th June: Love hurts

With so many dogs having been adopted from HKDR over the years, not to mention those who have been with us their whole lives, it's inevitable that almost every day we hear about the sad passing of a much-loved four-legged companion.  I'm certainly not immune to the feelings of loss and grief, and I fully understand how hard it is to lose a dog who has imprinted itself on your heart.  If you can imagine that HKDR was founded in 2003, and next year will be our 20th Anniversary, I don't believe any of the dogs from those very early times will still be alive today, although it's not completely impossible.  Heartbreak is part of being a dog lover, even though I really wish it wasn't.

The rain once again put many potential adopters off coming to meet the dogs and puppies they had planned to visit, but for the puppies at least the weather really doesn't make any difference since they can't go outside anyway.   Now that the rain seems to be hanging around and Sunday will also be wet, we'll restrict the number of puppies going to Whiskers N Paws so they can all be comfortable indoors, and the Kennedy Town pups will stay where they are.

Please remember there are still some puppies staying in foster homes, so if you're living in those areas then you can arrange to meet them by emailing Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.  Demi and Dulcie are two such gorgeous sisters who have been staying in one of our regular foster homes in Sai Kung, and as such they will come with a background of nothing but love and the very best of care and training.  You can see them growing up on Instagram @why_i_foster.

Isaac has gone to a foster home

At least some people did turn up, and little Isaac was taken for fostering so he can be in a home when he recovers from his knee surgery on both legs.  Isaac is an adorable little dog, and I think this may well be a case of a failed foster home.

It also seems that Ilona, the terrier-type girl, may have a similar problem although far less severe, so she will need to have her legs checked.

Remember to keep up to date on our dogs and other happening on Facebook at Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) or Instagram @ hkdr_official.
