We don't usually put adult dogs into foster homes unless there's a specific reason, such as post-surgery care or because they're old and infirm, or anything else that means staying at the Homing Centre isn't advisable (like during typhoons). For healthy adult dogs, placing them in a foster home where they settle and start to feel secure, then uprooting them and sending them back to the Homing Centre, must feel to that dog as though it's being abandoned, so we prefer to let them stay and only leave when they are going for good.
For Camille, she came to us from AFCD with a badly injured paw, in fact with a whole toe missing and an infected wound, and we were lucky to find a foster home that was close enough to Ap Lei Chau to allow Camille's wound to be regularly cleaned and dressed at ALCVC. Now Camille is fully healthy, although of course still missing a toe, and her foster parents are leaving Hong Kong very soon. We urgently need a home for this sweet young girl who has shown herself to be very loving and affectionate, so if that home is yours please start by completing the adoption questionnaire and then we can arrange a meeting.
Dudley is an older puppy who has been in a foster home since he was a baby, and now he's having to make the move to the big Homing Centre at Tai Po unless he can find a home by Sunday (yes, that's today). This is such a heartbreaking situation as Dudley has known nothing but a loving family and home environment, and it's the perfect age to bring him into your home.
These are the older puppies needing homes please! |
Little Inky |
Inky was today's lucky dog, and she was chosen to go home from our Kennedy Town Homing Centre.
I'm happy to announce the beginning of our new Elgin Street venture, starting with the Positive Partners Training Classes taking place on Fridays during July and August (the already-established classes will continue at Whiskers N Paws on Sundays). These classes are aimed at both new dog owners wanting to learn the right way to train a dog from the start, and those who feel they would like to understand their dogs better and know how to build a two-way cooperation and understanding, and of course without using force or punishment. To enrol please go to https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../positive-partners.../
