Sat 8th April: A sad story (but hopefully with a happy ending)

It's heartening to know that even in the middle of a holiday period, and with so many dogs already waiting for homes, when there's a genuine need for help then the community rallies round.  In today's case it was a very sad story of a senior dog whose (I think fairly young) owner had died, leaving her grieving dog behind and with nowhere to go.  I was asked if HKDR could help, and within a short time of posting the story and photos on Facebook there had been an offer of a home, and several foster options until the would-be adopter was back in Hong Kong after the Easter break.  It took up a good part of my day, but at least it means this particular dog won't end up joining the hundreds of others at our Tai Po Centre.  Now we just need the same for all of the others!

Ruby is one of the "R" puppies at Kennedy Town

Although it will be Easter Sunday and I suspect a very quiet afternoon at Whiskers N Paws, we'll still have a good number of puppies attending,  hoping to find their forever families.  The list I have is brothers Luke, Lennox and Lewis (who will be no larger than medium size as adults), the four "P" siblings Paulie, Pepper, Pixie and Poncho,  fuzzy-faced Archer and Axel plus two more "A" puppies Ava and Ali, and first-timer Speedy.   Finley and Gabby are the current Whiskers N Paws residents, and even if you can't make it between 2pm and 4pm, we have a whole load of additional puppies staying at both of our Kennedy Town Homing Centres.  If you're just starting your search for a new family member, please remember to complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.  Check out last Sunday's Puppy Party photos to see some of those mentioned  Puppy Adoption Day 2nd April 2023.

Our big Homing Centre at Tai Po is home to so many dogs that I can't possibly list them all, but you can scroll through the vast catalogue at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/dogs/ if you are thinking of adopting.  Many of these dogs came to us as puppies, while others once had their own families before finding themselves homeless.  Please don't forget them, they are all just as deserving of another chance as any other.

I wish all of you a Happy Easter, and look forward to being able to write about more adoptions tomorrow.
